Birth Doula

This begins with a no-obligation meeting at a place of your choice. This is the time for you (and your partner) to ask any questions about what a doula can do for you and to decide if I am the right person to support you. I would suggest that you may like to interview more than one prospective doula to make sure you find the one that suits your personality and needs best.

If after our meeting you decide to book me, the Contract includes the following services:

- Two antenatal visits structured around your needs and concerns. We will discuss in confidence any aspects of your pregnancy and forthcoming birth. Each meeting can last up to two hours. Topics covered might be your birth preferences, choice of birth environment, relaxation methods, pain relief options, birth positions, preparations for your baby, breastfeeding and anything else you (or your partner) want to talk about. Support for hospital and home birth is available, and also for those Mums having planned C-section.

- Analysis and debriefing of any previous traumatic birth experience.

- Unlimited support via telephone or email.

- An on-call committment for you between 38 and 42 weeks of pregnancy (37 weeks for twins). I will be with you during your labour from the moment you decide that you want me. I will stay with you after the birth until you are settled, have given the first feed and feel comfortable for me to leave.

- One postnatal visit to debrief your birth experience, address any babycare issues and to decide if you require any further postnatal support.

The cost of my services as a Doula UK recognised doula is £600 including travel and hospital parking .
Extra postnatal hours can be booked on an hourly basis, invoiced weekly.

Postnatal and Breastfeeding Support

I also offer a breastfeeding and postnatal support service for any new mother, not just for those booking me as their birth doula. I would prefer to attend for interview in the later stages of your pregnancy and ideally would like to meet with you once antenatally to talk through your plans for the immediate postnatal period and discuss aspects of newborn care and feeding.
Some clients like to pre-book a certain number of two hourly postnatal sessions before baby is born. Others prefer to take a wait and see approach and request a visit if they run into difficulties. Obviously if you choose the latter I may not always have the availability to attend immediately. As a postnatal doula my aim is to enable you to be the mother you want to be.

Postnatal charges £15 per hour. Postnatal mileage charged at 40p per mile for clients living more than 5 miles from CV32. Please contact me for further details and to discuss your specific requirements.
