Testimonial from client I worked with for the first two weeks following the birth of her son:
Breast feeding looks so easy, but it is a strangely tricky skill to acquire. Maybe because the stakes are so high, possibly because every baby is different and breast feeding is a very individual relationship between your breasts and your baby, perhaps because you are very tired and emotional when you are trying to learn how to do it But my advice to any 'bump' determined to make breastfeeding work is, accept from the start that you will need support and there is no one better than Jackie Shakespeare to give a bewildered new mum that help. My son is 15 weeks old today, has almost doubled his birth weight, has consistently tracked between 25th and 50th percentile for weight and I am still exclusively breast feeding. I firmly believe that it is, in the main, down to being supported by Jackie in the first 2 weeks if his life when she encouraged, advised and gently led us through the uncertainty, the discomfort, and the worry that those early days bring. Her tremendous experience and lovely but sensible and logical manner is an compelling combination and such a refreshing change from the inconsistency that comes with advice from elsewhere. And it all happens in your own home. Meeting Jackie is definitely one of the highlights of my birthing experience, and I could not recommend her more highly.
